An elephant had not friend. He used to wander in the forest and had utmost wish to have a friend. One day he found a monkey and asked. Oh, my dear monkey! “Will you be my friend?”
How I can be your friend. The nature of both of us is different to each other. You are too big whereas I am a small animal. You cannot swing on trees as I can? How can we play with each other? So we cannot be friends of each other”, replied the monkey.
The elephant was disappointed and dejected to hear this. He went forwards. On the way, he met with a rabbit and asked him if they could be the friends of each other?
“You are too big and powerful whereas I am too small and week. We cannot be the friend”, rabbit replied.
Then elephant met a frog and asked the same question for making a friendship. The frog said “You are too heavy and big. You cannot jump as long as I can. Please forgive me as I cannot be your friend”.
The elephant requested a fox, and he received the same answer.
A few day passed. The elephant saw that all the animals were running in frightening. He stopped a bear and asked what was happening? The bear replied that a tiger entered into the forest and he had been killing the animals. The elephant had a kind heart. He wished to save the small animals from the tiger. He went to the tiger and said, Dear Lion! “Please leave my friends and do not kill them.” Do not eat them”. The tiger turned a deaf ear to the request of the elephant and told the elephant not to interfere into his matter and to mind his own business. Finding no way to solve the issues, the elephant kicked the tiger and made him run away. Then the elephant went back to animals and told them that he had made the lion to run away. Hearing how the elephant saved their lives, the animals felt shame at their previous attitude and asked elephant for forgiveness. All requested the elephant to accept their friendship.

Moral: Friends come in all shapes and sizes!
