Short Stories with Moral

Once upon a time a man had a donkey. When the donkey grew old and sick the man decided to kill him and sell his skin. The donkey understood his master's plans and ran away and took the road to Bremen.
“I will go to Bremen and will become a musician.” Said the donkey to himself.
On his way, he saw an old dog lying in the grass.
‘What are you doing?” asked the donkey.
“I have become so old and can’t gather the sheep as I had been doing so. So my master beats me.” Said the dog.
“Why don't you come with me to Bremen?” Asked the donkey. We will become musicians. The dog agreed and the two new friends continued their journey.
On the road ahead, they met a cat seemed worried and frightened.
“What's wrong with you? Why do you look so sad?| Asked the dog.
It is my mistress. I have grown old and cannot chase the mice like I used to. So she has decided to get rid of me and tried to drown me in the river. Said the cat.
Oh! That's not nice. The donkey and I are going to Bremen to become musicians. Why don't you join us? You can sing the jolly tune too. The donkey suggested the cat.
The cat liked the idea very much and made his escape with his studio friends. They had only walked a few miles when they came across a cock who was singing without a stop.
“What is wrong with you?” This is not the time of singing. Asked the cat.
“This is due to my mistress. Today she is going to treat her friend a big dinner party. She instructed the cook to slaughter me and prepare a soup. My head may be off today.” Said the cock.
“We are going to Bremen to become musicians. Why don't you come with us? After all you have already know singing.” The donkey suggested. The cock also happily accompanied the other 3 animals.
As night fell, they felt tired and hungry. We must find a spot to eat and rest for a good night. Everybody agreed. Then they decided to look for a place to spend the night. In the same time, they came across a lonely house. Its lights were lit and they could hear the sounds of food gathering from inside. When the cat climbed up a tree and peeped in from an open window.
They were robbers and have delicious spread of meats and drinks. Let us find a way to drive the robbers away. Said the donkey. The four friends sat together and started to think a suitable plan. At last, they came up with a plan to drive the robbers away. The donkey put his front feet on the edge of the window and the dog climbed over his back. The cat climbed on the dog. And the cock flew on the top of the cat's head. Once they were ready, they all started to perform frightening sounds loudly. The donkey brayed. The dog bark, cat mewed whereas the cock doodle. The sound made by four the friends were so loud and horrible that the thieves thought them ghosts. The robbers scared by these and quickly flee from the house. As soon as they were gone, four the musicians took over the dining table and fed themselves. After eating fully, they switched off the lights and went to sleep.
“I will sleep on the straw.” Said the donkey. The dog wished to sleep by the door. The cat decided to sleep by the warmth of the fireplace. The cock slept on the beam of the hut. Soon they all fell asleep.
At the distance of the house, the robbers watched as the lights of the house went off. “We shouldn't have been scared like this, one of you go back in and tell us what is going on inside the house.” The chief robber instructed.
So one of the men made his way back into the house. The house was so dark and quiet. That he went to the kitchen to strike a light. But he mistook the cat's shiny eyes for coal and put a burning match to them. Shocked by the attack, the cat jumped on the robber and scratched his face. This scared the robber and he ran outside of the house to find a way of escape. But in the dark, he accidentally stepped on the dog that bit his leg. All the commotion woke the cock as he came flying down to land on the robbers head and cried. Ultimately the donkey kicked him out of the house with his hind legs. The robber ran to the rest of the gang.
Chief! “The house is haunted. An evil which lives there. she scratched my face. At the door stands a man with a knife cut my leg. In the backyard, a monster hit me with a club. On the roof sits a judge whose screams, “Bring the knave up, do”. Hearing all this, the robbers got on their horses and left the house forever,
Everything went so well for the folk musicians that they decided to live in that house forever and never made it to Bremen.

Moral! If and when you think that nothing is working out, all you have to do is keep trying and things will turn good.
